ECI to Assess Telangana Electoral Preparedness: 3 Day Visit

CEO Rajiv Kumar and ECI Members to Meet Key Stakeholders in Hyderabad for Election Readiness

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a three-day visit to Telangana between October 3 and 5 to assess the state’s preparedness for the upcoming elections. 

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and other Election Commission members will be in Hyderabad to hold meetings with various stakeholders, including enforcement agencies, district collectors, and senior state government officials. 

On Friday, Santhi Kumari, the Chief Secretary of Telangana, instructed officials across various departments to be ready with all the necessary information. She directed the officials to demonstrate the State government’s readiness to conduct the elections and to prepare an exhaustive review of the state’s electoral mechanisms.

She also instructed the officials to procure wheelchairs and place them at polling stations and said, “Vacancies of AEROs/EROs should be immediately filled.”

She said details on integrated border check posts will be made available to the ECI officials, ensuring that the electoral process is free and fair. 

An array of senior officials attended the preparatory meeting convened by the Chief Secretary, including Telangana CEO Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary for Energy Sunil Sharma, and Special Chief Secretary for Finance Ramakrishna Rao.
